Hello and welcome.

I'm Nkhensani Mahomane, a romance and romantasy writer from Phalaborwa, South Africa. This space...Nkhensani's writing room...is where I share the quiet, beautiful chaos of creating stories.

Stories have lived in my imagination for as long as I can remember. I started reading when I was in Grade 2, and around that same time I created my own little version of Tinkerbell story. I remember holding those pages and wondering what it would feel like to one day hold a real book with my name on it. That small moment planted a dream that never left me.

Writing, for me, is a way of turning thoughts into something tangible. I spend a lot of time in my head, imagining characters, relationships, and worlds that don't exist yet, and the best way I know how to release those ideas is through storytelling.

The stories I love writing most live in a world of romance and romantasy. I'm drawn to emotional journeys... love that grows slowly, tension that builds between characters, and the quiet moments that reveal who people truly are. You'll often find themes like slow burn romance, enemies-to-lovers, second chances, and the complicated pull between dreams and family expectations in my work.

Right now, my writing world is filled with several projects that are slowly taking shape, including YOURS, IN INK (debut novel), YOU HEARD ME, The Heart Under Pressure series, and The Hollow Semester. Each story carries a piece of the things that inspire me: music, dreams, real life, and the emotions that connect us all.

This blog is where I'll share pieces of that journey: updates about my stories, thoughts about writing, inspiration behind my characters, and moments from the creative process.
